Abstract
Objectives: This study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the Standard Precaution (SP) guidelines education program developed and applied based on the health belief model (HBM).

Methods: The data was collected through self-report questionnaires and direct observations of 74 nurses working at a general hospital in G city. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS 25.0 program.

Results: There was no statistically significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in the knowledge score after applying the intervention based on HBM (t=1.34, p=.184). However, there was a statistically significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in health belief (t=9.02, p<.001) and performance (t=10.00, p<.001).

Conclusions: This study applied an educational program emphasizing the importance and benefits of implementing the SP guidelines for nurses who need help in determining the priority or context of clinical situations. Through this intervention, it was possible to improve the performance of SP guidelines by improving the health beliefs of nurses.
